Well I kmow my titles quite specific..
But what are people getting (with carbs or whatever) or would be expecting from theirs a Pinto on TB's to get MPG wise?
We've got a Pinto with Yamaha R1 throttle bodies and a FR34 cam, we've had the head off etc and re-seated some of the valves and done all
the valve timing checks and clearances on it and the MPG for a reasonable run has risen from 15 upto 20mpg.
I think the Megasquirt is about tuned up correctly now, I'm struggeling to see where I can make inprovements there so I'm just wondering if
thats the best i'm going to get.
We were supposed to be touring round Scotland in it all weeked but at that MPG its just going to be too expencive

Thats more like what i'd expect to get maybe even more being injection.
The AFR's appear good and lean off quite a bit under light load or cruise, the only setting that might help is "fuel cut on overrun"
but its easier to tune without that. And I can't seem to get the Acceleration/de-celeration wizzard to show and movement.
The only other suspisions I have is that the igntion timing isin't advancing properly (i've been told its been bouncing in the past when the
laptops shown it as steady), but If I advance it more in places it starts to pink.
And maybe that the R1 ITB's are too big for low throttle openings even tho they have throttle slides etc in them.
My Pinto went from about 30mpg with 45 Webers (driving like my granny, but managed under 10 on a track too) up to about 35 (max) after GSXR bodies and
injection.
It was a 2.0L with big valve ported head.
Any use of the loud pedal did have a big effect on MPG though.

My 1800 zetec gives about 30 with gentle driving and down to about 15 when driven hard, when had the megasquirted crossflow it was about 30 when
driven normally and low 20s when pushed.

Im sure mark Allanson was getting closer to 35 from his std ish pinto on injection.
I get 25 to 30 ish on carbs (will check on run to Newark at weekend.
Round the doors i suspect im between 20 to 25. hard to keep foot off throttle!

We've got Pinto EFI injectors spraying straight onto the valves at low RPM and then switching over to the TB injectors over 3K rpm.
We've been thinking that as the incoming air setup is different to the standard plenum then maybe the fuel isisn't atomising or mixing with
the air properly (even though it should atomise on the valve)
Last night I lowered the injector switchover point to 1K rev's and it was running pretty rich throughout the map so either the staging
calculations aren't entirely right or something different is happening if there's scope to lean off the mixture alot.
