Head skim

Can anyone tell me of the implications of having a head that has been skimmed approx 1/2mm below the recommended limit. The head is fitted and the engine is running well,so I know the valves are not touching the pistons,It starts O.K too so I dont think the compression is too excessive, just curious really as to any long term damage. The head was supposidly done by a reputably good head specialised, where it was ported polished and skimmed. Is it possible it was done deliberate for power reasons?.

My biggest concern would be the cam timing if it has had 2mm taken off, unless your using a vernier pulley.

If you have compression tested it and it runs well then I wouldn't worry.
