hi guys
im just setting up my megasquirt again after getting it back from phil at extra efi, i am just calibrating the tps (probably the most easiest part)
and i not getting proper readings, when i get the current from the tps in megatune it says that when the throtttle is closed the current is 187. ok
now when i open the throttle and try and get the current (which should be lower) it just comes up with 187 again, i have checked the wiring and it
correct,
what am i doing wrong?
RIGHT I'VE HAD ENOUGH, IM ON THE VERGE OF THROWING THIS BLOODY MS AT THE WALL, THEN TAKE A SLEDGE TO IT, AND THEN BURN IT! THEN I MIGHT THINK
ABOUT THROWING IT IN THE BIN
RANT OVER
errr - tell you what, so you don't risk damaging the wall / slegde hammer. i'll take it off your hands and errm, err 'destroy' it
for you
are you sure you've got the wiring the right way round? (i know its obvious but i'd have a beer and check again).
Also, have you tried disconnecting the throttle pot from the linkage and starting all the way open and closing it / then closed and opening it and
checking for a signal?
3 wire tps? it matters which way you wire them up and it isnt a sinple as you might think...
the info is there though. have a look through the MSEFI site..
Stick with it - youll get there!
HTH
yep, have checked for the resistance and its fine, the big needle on the avometer does a song and dance when the throttle is open. i have resulted to
watching paint dry to try and calm down
i just wish you could plug it all in and it would start
This seems a bit random but just try swopping the connections on the pot around. I can't see a way it can be wired right and not faulty and the avo suggests it's not faulty.

Obvious question and solution really.
Does it all work with the stim? If not its the ECU
If it does then as long as the three wires to the pot pin out correctly to the ECU then its either the way the TPS is connected or the TPS is duff.
You can use a choc bloc connector to try all the possible combinations from the TPS to the loom
If nothing works then its the TPS.

Any updates today?
Here's a few suggestions
Is the 187 just a default value displayed when there is no TPS connected at all, should a wire have come off or be damaged?
Is the throttle spindle definately physically moving the TPS and its not become detatched or anything.
Is the Megasquirt set-up to be using TPS and not MAP in the various settings.
Stick with it...just think about it logically......
So, the TPS is not working....Get a multimeter across the tps to verify there is a resistance change when it is moved (disconnect it from MS first if
you can)....
Next step, do same test on the DB37 connector.......If you are seeing the expected values, then the fault is in MS....At which point it may be time to
send it back...
But in every install, I think most of us have come up against problems that make us feel like giving up...Mine was trying to get the ignition
working....BUT, once you are there (and you will be), it's very rewarding.
Paul.
