Was playing with megasquirt again this afternoon and some wierd things started happening. i had the car idling about 900 rpm, kpa still @ 90 tho,car
is still running about 13:1 as well and i had the carbtune on the TB's as i was attempting to balance them. the mercury bars were not moving at
all, which i thought was strange so i took a glance at my MS screen, all was ok! THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, the engine revs up to 2000 rpm and stands there
ticking over, at 2000rpm i didnt have a clue what was going on!
looked at the ve table and everything looks fine, anyone tell me what happened as it seems to do it everytime i let the engine tick over.
im confused, can't seem to get it ticking over correctly
When you were trying to balance the TBs you didn't press hard on the screw did you? That would change the idle speed and if you pressed really hard and warped the spindle it might come back down to normal afterwards...
It’s possessed by the devil, find a priest
i was no where near the car when it decided to do this, and had no tools in my hands! i was watching the MS screen.
Are you sure you don't have some kind of intermittent air leak?
checked all the pipes today and i can't find any air leaks
What's doing the fuel pressure regulation? FPR on the end of the fuel rail?
Any chance the radiator fan kicked in at the point the revs shot up and its an electrical related incident, possibly earth related.
Is there any type of hotstart valve, ICV or similar fitted?
Check the TPS is tight, and that it's set up on MS correctly. Ray
Check;
Automatic Choke
(Sounds like its warmed up whilst on choke??)
Fuel Quality
Check oil quality
Check electrics - Maybe something is turning off, reducing the load on the engine??
Check Idle Screw (Ive had these stick before - Squirt it with WD anyway to be sure, and exorcise it)
What do you have the Warmup and ASE (after-start enrichment) set to?
