Recommend me some ITBs
flak monkey - 17/9/08 at 08:10 PM

OK, so I am going down the megasquirt route as a first step...

So can anyone recommend me some ITBs?

I know Jenvey are excellent, but also expensive!

How about bike ITBs? E.g. ZX10/R1 etc? Would the injectors be able to cope with a 2 litre engine at 7500rpm?

I can make a manifold to suit, so theres not an issue there....

Cheers,
David

What size are you after ?

zx12r are nice, seperate easy but are 43mm or somthing near

R1 5vy are cheap as they will only split into pairs. size, about 41mm

I bought a really nice set for next to bugger all and hope to do some thing like This .....

Hi Dave. I can send you an artical from Practical Performance Car on using bike TB's, all info needed. U2U your email ad. Now converting zetec to m/squirt and GSXR 600 tb's, ok up to 200bhp with std injectors.

Cheers Mike.

Do the R1's have a TPS? Dont see one in the pics....?

big_wasa - 17/9/08 at 08:39 PM

There is two one on each set of butterflys. The second set you dump anyway.

There was an artical in ppc where David Walker said the newer bikes dont have Tps but somthing elts that wont work with an aftermarket ecu ?

I've got a set off a CBR1000. They have a TPS and a MAP sensor.

They are two pairs where as GSXR ones are all separate so easier to s[ace out.

GSXR 1000 is enough for 200bhp and 7800rpm on my 2.0 XE. Plus you can space them to match the ports on the head so no bends in your inlet.

Here is a set of GSXR1000 on my zetec.

Goes like a Ba***rd, will be even quicker once i've sorted out the clutch slip

Iain (Fatbaldblokes) site is a great read and i've visited once, top man.

So, GSXR or R1 bodies it is...

I like the mounting idea on FBB and see the TB's he used have lugs on which he has used to bolt the TBs to the manifold.

The R1's look like they have these lugs, but are in pairs, and obviously the GSXR600 TBs have, but have the GSXR1000s?

David

PS a 38mm bore should be ideal for the Pinto I reckon, so GSXR 600 could be the way to go?

I've got a spare set of GSXR600 TBs for sale, strangely enough. Was going to manufacture a plenum and use them on my Zetec Turbo, but haven't got around to it yet.... such good intentions!

£50 plus postage if you want them, cos I doubt I'll get round to using them anytime soon. They're complete with injectors and TPS. I think they are K1/K2, so are seperable into individual bodies.

I saw your supercharging thread - I've done a megasquirt and turbo conversion on my zetec, so if there are any questions that I can help with you're welcome to try me!

Brilliant I'll take you up on that offer. U2U me some details and I'll send the money over.

Yep, supercharger on the way, first step is getting it injected, then move on to the forced induction...
