Fireblade speedo
LBMEFM - 28/7/08 at 08:02 PM

I have read previous past threads and are still confused. I have got a 95' Fireblade engine in my MK Indy using the original Fireblade clocks. What do I have to do to get the speedo to work.
Thank you
Barry

If you have the original speedo pick-up which locates to the bolt on the sprocket, you can modify it to run on your diff output.

Something like this;

Alternatively, you can use a speedo sensor from a 98 onwards Fireblade and mount it externally to pick up signals from magnets attached to the diff output.

Nine magnets on the prop adapator saves you needing a speedo healer.

I did not have the correct sensor so used an old ABS sensor, works just fine and was free!

I would recommend the post 98 sensor, as for magnets i would advise that you drilled and tapped small bolts into the prop adaptor as in my experience the magnets tend to let go after a short while!

I will post a pic of how we have done it if required.

The main reason i chose to use the post 98 sensor was that i could then use the post 98 clocks which i think look better than the pre 98 clocks.
