Just a couple of thoughts. The Onyx isn't as cheap as I had thought

have you not heard? you can build one for £250 apparently

speedyxjs - 27/11/08 at 07:51 AM

BUILD YOUR OWN ANDY!!!
Seriously. Have a look at the haynes roadster. You can buy the chassis and all the parts you need separately and use a sierra donor

maartenromijn - 27/11/08 at 08:43 AM

Like Speedyxjs says: build your own! The best thing is that you can spread the building cost over a longer period of time, and keep the most of your 4k in the pocket.

Top Gear Top Tip:
In the mean time do not put your money on a Iceland bank account!

Cheapest if you include not having to do an SVA/IVA would be something on an existing chassis, i.e. not a 7.

Either the 4 wheel Pembleton, or maybe one of these?

Cheapest overall would probably to buy a part built from someone caught in the credit crunch, sadly.

I like the GTS. There is support readily available on here too which is nice.

Vindi_andy - 28/11/08 at 08:38 AM

unless the 4K is purely for the kit then save for the IVA as your building.

And if your canny about it the donor ends up costing nothing or even paying you cos if you get on the Ford sierra owners club forum you can sell the bits you dont want ie doors, interior trim etc
