Ooops i aint got one on my zetec, i have cleaned up the flat surface where the number should be but theres nothing. So do change the engine or fake it.

This seams to happen a lot on Ford replacment Zetecs. Ive had 2 like it.

If you can fake it and make it look good let me know how you do it

I had the same problem, what cc is your engine as i have a spare

Can't you just make one up, I mean the engine is not stolen so whats wrong with putting a numbe that relates to you on it.

I know alot of the tuners put there own engine number on engines after they mod them.

you'll never prove the age if you put your own number on, which is the important bit for SVA.

Putting the number from another engine is technically ringing.

Engine ge only needs to be proven if your going for the pre '95 no cat test.

Not sure that is correct as I had to prove the age of my X flow .

Ford engine numbers are always the last 7 digits of the original shell's chassis number, the first 2 digits give you the year and month of the engine.

My be useful if you need to 'restore' the number to the engine
