It looks like a useful bit of kit but I would question it's accuracy in lateral G as without accelerometers it can only measure GPS points. With sticky tyres a fair amount of G will be generated before the car starts to move sideways.
Still, it would be useful for the things that it looks to do well.

Your right the VR2 looks lots cheeper and who needs to know the drift angle in a 7 anyway.

If it works like their Vbox, of which we have several at work, it uses the doppler shift of the GPS signal as the vehicle moves to measure speed, distance and acceleration not just the GPS location.

It's not even in same league as the VR2.

I have the Performance Box and despite it's naff name it is an excellent bit of kit.
It doesn't have drift angle but instead has power functions.
It's highly accurate speed data and uses a GPS engine to collate data. Moving just 1 foot starts a reading, or not if you choose rollout.
It has a SD card slot which will data log or with the right pov database is a speed camera warning device.
In the setup screen is Lat and Log of current position plus sat info.
Various parameters can be set up to suit your preferences but no additional input is needed for all modes bar power.
It does have accelerometers for the G functions.

The drawback with the other models such as Race Technology AP22 and others is that you need to know the Cd of your vehicle and weight.
Now Locosts are not known for a standard weight and Cd factor.

If you want an accurate device the P Box is very good.

The manual on disk is 44 pages long.

A new feature just launched is circuit overlays for lap timings, I've just downloaded Donington and Curborough.
Custom overlays can be exported from Google maps for use with datalog software that is supplied.
