Mandrel tube bending - Where?
Alan_Thomas - 16/8/07 at 11:02 AM

For another project I need some 1.75" OD 0.125" wall thickness alloy tubes mandrel bent to 90degrees.
It has to be mandrel bent as I want a tight bend raduis.
- Anyone know specialist tube benders in their area that would accept one off jobs?
- Cheers Alan

Merlin motorsports do tube bending... Don't know if they do that size / thickness though.... Not sure if they're near to you though....

You could try here

Pipecraft (Lancing, West Sussex). I had my exhaust parts made by them and am really pleased with what they did for me.

Talk to the production manager Andy Woods on 07961 901580, DON'T use works phone number.

simpsons race exhausts near slough would probably be able to bend/supply something suitable.

Thanks for suggestions everyone.
Tube too big for Merlin, Sent Simpsons a mail a couple of days ago but no answer to date. But Anvil looks promising will try them.
Suprisingly I have found somewhere in the States (Woolfaircraft.com) that can supply and it looks, with the dollar rate so low, as if they will be the cheapest, even when you include delivery as well.

Now I may well be wrong but as I understand it you cant tell them what radius you want as they can only bend to the mandrels they have- usually 3 or 4 x Dia.

I was looking for a place to do cnc mandrel bending and all the places I asked to quote specified the bend radius that they do in the response.

Used Custom Cages in the end.

They are really helpful and cheap- about a third the price of some others.

Alan,

Drop Nev Powell a line - I'll send you his details through U2U. He's over in liphook but I'm sure he'll be able to sort you out one way or another.
