I need to do some painting on my TVR...it has been resprayed very recently in an unknown color...
Is there any magical place I can take a panel...(door)...and have someone cunningly create a couple of aerosol cans containing exactly the right
colour of paint?
It will do the job until I save up the money to have it sprayed up properly....
i needed a similar service last year. went to halfords with several samples.
WAAAAYYY OFF. not recomended - especially for a TVR.
B&Q do it for interior emulsion
you will have someone local who can match it pretty close.
We have two locals who will use paint colour match chips, you should get close provided the paint was mixed to a known code/colour.
The paint on my car was mixed by my son who works in a paint shop so aside from he knows what went in it i would stand no chance of getting close
otherwise.
You need someone like this, thats not my son in the pic btw, he's a tad younger than that.....
There is a place called RS Paint (IIRC) in the back of Motorcycle News. They can take a paint fleck and match that. Quite good service too from them in the past.
Paints4U on the internet may be able to help.
Friend of mine used Hickley valtone if you have anything like that local.
They used a camera to take a reading and matched it to that!
I've left a panel at a local car paint suppliers and they mixed up a match against the colour.
Cheers
Ian
cant you contact the previous owner and ask where he had it painted ??
The car was painted 5 years ago....the company then went bust...so the car sat in the previous owners garage in pieces for 5 years before I bought it....so sadly....no...
Post a pic, I'll have a go at guessing the colour.
John
Alrighty then
you can see the blasted hole in the roof that is now filled....still sanding away though

Ah, i know that colour. I'm a bit sad with colours, used to know all BL's colours for early 70's minis.
That one is known as BLUE. Technically (in the trade) its called TVR blue, most people just abreviate to BLUE (note capitals are not important when
asking for the paint).
