Has anyone ever seen/heard of this?

It seems the UK gets some cooler technologies before we do.... bummer. Hopefully this will transfer its way across the pond.

Yeah, the company that invented the common rail diesel engine (how many have sold the the last 10 years?) cannot be any good at technology development ;-)

looks like a good idea but why not do away with the inlet cam full stop that system seems to ignore it most of the time anyway

Because by retaining the cam to provide the hydraulic pressure for opening the valves the entire system is made much less complex (and therefore more reliable).
