Fuel Tank Outlet - Repair
Evening one and all,
Removed the fuel tank from the VeeDub camper today and the outlet pipe has corroded through.
Better it's failed now rather than on the M1 as it would have resulted in an F15 style after burner effect. Well it would for about 30s until
you could ditch it on the hard shoulder!
Anyway, tanks are few and far between so it looks like we need a repair. I have found Northern Radiators on the net that may be able to repair it but
does anyone have any other ideas? Is there a fitting that could be used to replace the outlet? It's about a 5mm outlet pipe, brazed in to the
tank.

I had seen that, typically ours is the non screw on type and is brazed in. I wondered though if I made up a threaded section that would take the ebay
item then have it professionally brazed on to the tank. At least then we could replace it if necessary. And it may be easier to braze a flange on than
to fix in a new piece of thin pipe.

I seem to recall in the dim and distant LB past a link to an aero fuel tank plug-in (ie no welding) fuel tank outlet... Might be worth searching for
that...

As said which camper is it? I've seen the pipes broken when people try to replace the fuel pipe on the flat engined campers due to the outlet of
the tank and the inlet of the pump being different sizes . If that is the case fit a universal filter as an adaptor after repairing /replacing the
tank.
