I'll give it a go....
....running MS with the built in coil drivers for now and keep a close eye on the temps of the VB921s!
Spoken to Bill Shurvington about the mods for EDIS and he says just rebuild the ecu back to std then follow mods on MS Extra site and it should be ok.
Will do this for the Duratec.
Next bit is a sanity check really.
Will be using a wheel from the CVH pulley if poss. Is this a direct swap for the pinto bottom pulley or do I need to mod my existing pulley to accept
the trigger wheel?
Next, am I right in thinking all I then need to do is set the VR sensor up so its pointing at tooth 9 of the wheel (assuming 36-1) when the engine is
at TDC then set the following:
Trig return = 60deg
Spark inverted = yes
Trig pos A = 3
Trig return A = 8
Trig pos B = 21
Trig return B = 28
Also need to set up the Spark settings, but what do I set the trigger angle to? Is that 60deg as well?
And assuming I have everything else set right it should be ok?
Only other question is where to pick up the RPM signal from?

Thanks for those pics, looks like I can probably knock something like that up pretty easily. Either that or I'll part with £20 for a trigger
wheels one!
I do have an edis module on my desk at home. Considering whether or not to just go for that from the outset. Seems simpler to set up overall, but more
complicated for me as I need to internally mod my ecu to work wit it.
As long as it all works when I mod the ECU it will be ok!

That will give a maximum advance of 60 degrees and a cranking advance of 6 degrees. You will need a timing light to check your VR sensor is in the
right place.
The trigger returns are for return based cranking timing. I can't see a setting for trigger return = 60 degrees. I think it's a typo in
the manual.

I used the top circuit to drive a VDO tacho. I think I used two 1K resistors. I've also had success with the bottom circuit (the diodes).

Hi Flak just been reading all your posts and woes on this , I have just one small question/pointer?
Have you checked your fuel delivery side ie the pump is it working right and pressure maybe having an intermittent fault there, pipe runs, etc. easy
to check before ripping the other bits out.

Thanks for that. Where it says connected to MS PCB where is that? Is that the programmable outputs 1, 2, 3 and 4? Or somewhere else? One of the JS
outputs?
This is something which I just havent got yet, the manual seems pretty vague!
I will also be wanting to use a knock sensor on the duratec when I get that far.

Edit to say I think I got it - in the more settings - tacho output there is a list of inputs. Just connect to one of those pins on the pcb with one of
those circuits and I should be away?

Would a lack of fuel cause rpm spikes though. You are talking about spikes lasting less than 0.5 sec each....?

Some features are hard coded to a JS pin (http://www.msextra.com/manuals/MS_Extra_Hardware_Manual.htm#layout). If you need one of those features,
choose a different JS pin and select it from the tacho out menu.
