Material for swirlpot
I currently have carbs and I'm thinking about EFI. However swirlpots such as the one from CBS for £100+ +P&P are just for too expensive for
what they are, a container with a few pipes fitted. As fuel tanks can be made out of PVC, why can't I do the same using a length of drainpipe
as the main body? Cap it off and epoxy in a few fittings.
Is this a fundamentally dumb idea?

i had a similar idea, however, its only a few plastics that are able to handle petrol and i couldnt find a cement (glue) that was capable either, made
mine from copper and brazed the fittings instead of solder

just thought, not sure if it would work as a swirl pot though.
What about a fuel filter from an Impreza , or similar.

Copper plate or tube? And why brazed instead of soldered? Where did you get the copper from and how much did it all cost?

ime a gas fitter / plumber, used copper tube didnt cost me anything, had parts at workshop, only brazed joints because i had the equipment to, and i
know braze is a much stronger join....TBH i would just buy one for 50 quid off ebay , only did it this way because i had the bits

9" of ali scaffold tube for mine, capped the ends, stuck a baffle in the middle, exit pipe out the bottom, in pipe and overflow at the top.
Cost nowt!
No reason not to make one from steel, just find a pot that can hold a pint.

Plastic fuel tanks are made from high density polyethylene (HDPE). PVC would hold petrol for a matter of minutes I suspect.
