setting alpha n

been checking out my ms troubles and as said i checked my settings for what is measuring engine load as my timing is in limp mode,in the constants it is set to alpha n but if i suck the map pipe( from 100kpa engine off) the ignition map comes down in reading,so i presume its still reading map not tps.How do i correct this as i cant see any way other than the one box saying speed density/alpha n ?
just found it in the configurator and changed it there but still seems the same,ie timing map does'nt change when throttle is pushed(engine off)
