MS II help needed here...

Well it runs, in fact it fired first turn of the key which I was pretty impressed with..

However its running like a bag of sh1t, real rich with 9.8 on the afr gauge and after a bit of farting around I can hardly see and cannot work out how to lean it off.

Once its warmed up is worse and pops and whistles can be heard from the inlet. Not good me thinks..

Any ideas?

First thing to do is balance the throttle bodies, then work on the mixture. If the TB's are out of balance it will be impossible to get it to run properly.

Balance the throttle bodies

Check the timing with a strobe (lock it to 10 deg in the trigger settings)

Then:

You have cranking settings which are the only thing controlling the fuel during cranking. ounds like it starts, so thats good.

Then after that, until the engine reaches 71deg coolant temp your fuel is controlled by the VE table and the ASE table. Assuming yours req fuel is about right, then you can only modify the VE table/ASE while its warming up (I would stick to only fiddling with the VE table as long as the percentages in the ASE are reasonable).

I would expect to see the ASE value at 0 deg to be around 140%, so its adding 40% more fuel than the value in your VE table.

Those are the only things controlling fuel.

Ok chaps, TB's are sucking as such:

1. 9
2. 5
3. 5
4. 5

Problem is theres only one screw in the middle. The TB's are the fixed twin type an have no adjustment between the 2 outside ones.

Any advice?

Normally if there is only one balance screw there is a bleed screw on each individual throttle body which allows more air in.

What throttle bodies do you have?
