Fuel Tank Woes

Well... I thought I was going to make things easier when i decided to use a Subaru in tank fuel pump... The problem is that I have had problems setting the fuel pressure at the rail.. It turns out that the Subaru fuel pump assy has a 'jet pump' that transfers fuel from one side of the tank to another.. I have three fittings on the top of the tank...

1. The flow.. no issue
2. The return which connects to the jet pump
3. What I thought was a vent but in fact is the out put of the jet pump that transfers fuel.

I can remove the jet pump and just have a return into the tank but it means I have an extra tube that would vent to atmosphere when in fact I already have a vented cap. Is there any issue with a having two vents and how is the best way to prevent fuel from coming out of the tank with a one way valve? so that air can get in and the tank vents pressure through the cap?

Any thoughts?

thanks
Dave B

If you've already got the venting sorted, could you not just block it off?

Either a rubber hose cap, or the locost way of fuel hose, and then plug it with a bolt (clamped of course).

could do but I don't think it would hurt to have a one way valve in it so that i can be 100% sure that the tank does not end up with a vacuum in it.

You can get valves for that, Merlin Motorsport do them, they let air in and out only when there is a low pressure differential, good for stopping fuel coming out the vent pipe when cornering hard.

Here you are-

not cheap though at £40
