quick bit of ms2 build advice please

hi im baz-r i am a member here but as im building a haynes roadster i spend almost all my time on that forum.
i have a ms2 v3 kit from diyautotune (unable to find any "kit" sellers in the uk) plus an extra bosch coil driver kit to put together to run my zetec engine (no edis) with some bike tb's when i get some at a good rate
i am not sure what idle control i will be using yet
im pritty well versed in the workings of normal engine manigment as i have been a auto tec/eletrician . i also know principals of programable ecu's and loved the idea that you can build an ecu to go in the car im building from scratch (have built loads of diffrent pcb kits in the past and the thermo control soldering driver i builtwhen i was 13 has had over 10 years use with no probs)

just got all my bits in the post built my jimstim kit and tested with no trouble at all and found it quite simple.
but this is the first ecu build

got all my ms2 bits out and scaned trough both std ms2 build and msextra build guides and im gussing im better off going directly to ms2extra right? but im seeing theres more than one way of skininng a cat on building the main board!
im just looking for the easy way to do it

whats the best build manual to use as i see there are diffrences and some of it i guss is not applicable to my build. am i best ignoring the mods to run my system then adding them after or whats the best way of doing it all at the same time?
the msextra build guide looked like my best bet i take it the buggs have been well ironed out by now

anyone have any good pointers before i get stuck in or is there a linky to a build guide that just is applicable to my setup

Build manual I wrote for the MS-Extra code, assuming you bought the correct board (V3 )

yep i got the v3 and i made sure i got a genuine one quite impressed with the quality of the pcb
ideal as this was the one i have already started as it looked the most logical. any thing i need to watch out for?

i did enquire with you directly via your web page a while ago to see if you did kits phil but had no idea you where a member on this forum
if any of the haynes roadster boys are after a pre built i know where to point them if you do any form of discounts or offers let me know and i could post them up there if you like as the list of completed cars is growing by the month and the old pintos and cvh's are already been pulled out and swaped over post iva and the interst in ms is growing

also do you do any bits and bobs that are not on your website that could be of use to roaster builders

Probably best to email me directly philip.ringwood(at)ntlworld.com, but yes, I do discounts for anyone buying 2 or more.
If you have any MS related questions on the forum Im happy to answer them, like I do here, Id be happier if I didnt get a silly slogun under each post as well

Phil

followed the build above and put the links in for vr (tachselect-vrin and tsel vrout) twidled the trimmers back til thay click and set installed the msextra firmware no trouble loaded up megatune 2.25, set up for 36-toothed wheel and i get all my pot on my jimstim1.5 (vr wave jumper fitted with 12v pullup and dip3 on for 36-1) to work but no tach with not synce in red at the bottom so im thinking i have a problem with the vr circuit?

looks like q22 is dead as a door nail
i injected a low voltage in on leg 2 of the vr amp (u7 i think) chip and i got wiggles up on tunerstudio ms but q22 seems to be doing nothing for some reason
any way im going to replace a few bit of the input side of the vr circuit and see if that gets it going
i got some bits from farnell but 20quid min order ouch
anyone know where i can buy eletrical components with a massive range without getting stung
maplins has such a small range now and i dont think theres anywhere local thease days (exeter)

RS components used to do a mail order service for non trade account customers but not sure if there is a minimum order with them. When I built my megasquirt I ended up buying from RS, Maplins and Farnell as none of them had everything or supplied in the quantity I required. I ended up with lots of spares and still saved some money but it took some time to find all the correct parts.
