It's just an adjustable astable. Trouble is it might have issues with high impedance injectors and you can only get a rough idea of relative
flow (and not absolute flow or pattern) unless you have the right petrol substitutes to play with. But it's a start...

Pity this bit is written in serbo-croat. One of those sites that instructs people who already know how to do it. I never did get electronics.

There was a very good feature in PPC Mag a few months (could be years!) ago, showing how to build a test bench for injectors. I have no idea why

That's good as a ghetto tester tool - connect to a pump and measure each injectors throughput over a measured time.
Probably best to do it in the open air though

I thought it was all about seeing how much fuel flows over a given time, collecting it in a graded jar??

I would have thought that you would plug all 4 injectors into the fuel rail, and run them at the same time. Then compare the amount of fuel between
the different injectors. By doing this at different injector pulse times you can tease out some subtle problems.
In my view it isn't the electronics that is a pain for this job (you could just play the injectors the output from your stereo, or any amplifier
capable of handing the current, 4 high impedance injectors have about the same load as a 4 Ohm speaker), it is the set-up for the fuel pump, injector
rail, measuring cylinders, some way of supporting it, and some way of preventing the injectors firing off the rail when you pressurise it etc. by the
time you have done it you have pretty much built a fuel injection system.
Megasquirt has a fuel injector test mode too FWIW.
