Megajolt = chance to change inlet manifold - should I?

Hi There

In my Fury, I have a fairly lairy pinto on a modified head, and on the Fury supplied exhaust manifold. As well as this, I have a pair of twin 45 Dellortos on the slightly offset heated inlet manifold. I'm moving over to megajolt away from the distributor, so I have an option to make a new inlet manifold to straighten out the bends a bit.

I understand one of the reasons why the manifold is offset slightly is ease of fitting around the distributor. Fitting the Megasjolt means most of the distributor will go (leaving the base and shaft to drive the oil pump).

Bearing in mind I also intend to redesign the Fury exhaust manifold to make all the primaries the same length and go for a proper cone based collector, would straightening out the inlet mean more power?

Furthermore, should I fabricate a heating system for it - use is predominately fast road and track day.

Your thoughts?

Cheers
Mark

Are you going with megasquirt for just spark? If so, using Megajolt would make more sense.

Anyway, do you have a picture of the current setup? It might not be too bad.
I don't think you'll need a heated manifold. On our fury we're running twin DHLA's and they're doing fine in winter
There must be some ready made cast ally manifolds floating around on ebay somewhere?

Hi Rost

Thanks for that, and yes, I've edited the original post - Don't know what I was thinking of.

There are a few manifolds out there on ebay, but they seem to have the bends in - I will dig out a photo.

Cheers
Mark

Personally I don't think you will see any difference whatsoever.
You would have to have straight individual runners matched to the head and at the correct angle to aim directly at the back of the valve.
Spaced bike carbs or throttle bodies.
Webers spacing are narrow compared with pinto ports so you will always attack it at a sight angle.
If you want to make a difference, raising the inlet manifold and packing the port floor starts to get the flow a bit better.
To be honest stick with what you have or go direct to head throttle bodies.
