Zetec no go

Hi folks
I am just in the process of trying to get my Indy started , I have fitted a plenum with original ford injectors as far as I know its got a base map on the Megasquirt (it did have GSXR TBs )I have tried to start it and nothing !
I have checked the flow to the rail its getting there , but at just over 5 psi on cranking I have no idea what it should be?
Also the fuel pump is running constantly it doesnt run up to pressure then cut out , is this correct ?

Any help or ideas would be appreciated
Thanks all

5psi is very low for fuel pressure. Should be 40-45 psi. Is your pump the correct type. Have you got the fiel pipes connected to the rail correctly. Seen a few with feed and returns mixed up

Sounds like the regulator is stuffed or you have the fuel pipes reversed, the pump should be on one end of the fuel rail, the regulator/return on the other.

When cranking and running fuel pump runs all the time, if the engine fails to start or stalls the pump will run for a second or two then stop.

Fuel pressure or regulator ( you do have one don't you?)
Check for sparks as well first.

Stupid question....your high pressure pump is working? 5 psi sounds like lift pump (carb) type pressure, you should be running 45psi (3Bar) ish.

If your regulator is adjustable then it may be that it is out of adjustment. Seen that before.

here goes

Ok folks
I have powered up the pump and restricted the flow back to tank and got 150 psi , how does the regulator work and how do I know if the pipes are on correctly ?
Thanks folks

The fuel feed from the pump fills the rail. The regulator is a spring loaded valve that allows fuel pressure to build to a pre set limit then allows surplus fuel to flow back to the tank via the return fuel line. So the feed is normally on the end opposite the regulator. The reg being the retun side. Hope that makes sense

It does sound like you could have the feed and returns connected to the wrong ends of the fuel rail. As said above return should be at the same end as the reg'.

progress

Ok folks
I have changed the regulator and attached the hoses correctly ! I now have 380kpa pressure but the pump still runs constantly and I can hear it returning to tank all the time?

What could be causing the pump not to cut out ?
Thanks again all

When the engine is running a high pressure pump does not cut out under pressure, it runs continuously producing fuel flow with the back pressure being controlled purely by the fuel regulator.
I dont know how the actual pump control works on megasquirt ECU, but Emerald ECU runs the fuel pump for approximately 15 Seconds if just the ignition turned on or does not pick up a engine cranking feed otherwise runs continuously. if its the same with megasquirt? are you using a fuel pump relay? is the feed from the ECU cutting relay in/out correctly if engine not started or relay stuck? or are you just thinking it should cut in/out when engine running? then no

If the pump is running constantly on megasquirt you have a wiring issue as it pumps constantly when it see's ignition pulses and when turned on will run for 3 or 5 seconds to prime.

The fuel pump relay works on a switched earth from the ECU, this pin is opposite a main earth my problem was a wire crossing over in the head shell of the wiring harness.

Afterwards I laid a slither of plastic between the two rows of pins for a bit of extra security.
