Power Commander PC3 (Not USB)

I've managed to purchase a Power Commander PC3 for a really great price..... only to find it doesn't have the USB interface, it's the older one which is only a serial interface, doh !

So how am I best to interface with it?

My laptop does have a serial connection.
I've also seen a USB + 9v battery to 9 pin D which I could use.

Can someone point me towards either of the above cables on ebay so I can just order them and stop me from pulling my hair out.

I've downloaded the "pciisoft2000.exe" software from dynojet, so once the computer can talk to it in theory we should be away.

It's for an R1 5PW - I have read that the engine needs to be started for the computer to recognise the PC3 - can anyone confirm or am I the only numpty to purchase a PC3 NON USB ?

Note to self : if a deal is too good to be true.... it usually is !!

I have a non-USB PC3, and all you need is a serial port on your laptop. If you dont have that, then you can buy (very cheaply on ebay) a USB to serial (RS232) lead. Plug it all in, power it up, and run the software you have already downloaded. et voila!
