Trigger Wheel in MS
Just started setting up MS and I have a bit if confusion on the trigger wheel inputs into Tunerstudio.
My engine (Mini A series SPI) has a 36 tooth wheel, on the crank, with two teeth missing 180 degree apart.
The help states 'No. consecutive missing teeth', so 36-2, which was my original thought, does not seem correct.
What should I enter? 36-1, 18-1, 36-2 or any other options?

None of those options it is expecting the missing teeth to be in a block together.
With your crank how does the engine actually know where the crank is? Is there an additional cam wheel or something?

I guess if you are running fuel only (so don't care about timing) then you could pretend your wheel is a 18 tooth wheel with 1 missing tooth.
Then 18-1 would be the answer.
But then your RPM will by out by a factor of 0.5 and it will get messy.
If you are running sparks too from the MS then I can't see the above working

If you are running MS2 or later then I think it actually supports 36-1-1

Thanks for the reply Matt, I was getting worried that there would be no replies!
The help text statement of 'missing consecutive teeth' would mean in a block together and one of the pictures, on ExtraEFI, shows this on
a 60-2 ring.
I am using MS2 both spark & fuel, semi seq, therefore, squirt and spark every 360 deg., but I am not sure how 36-1+1 can be entered.

If you are running the MSExtra code then you can select your trigger wheel from the drop-down
"Ignition Option"
Spark mode == Rover#1
I don't understand how this can get the spark timing correct though, as from my understanding your trigger wheel is symmetrical!
I guess you would need to run your spark with a distributor (or have another sensor that tells you the phase of the crank).
You could pick up a 36-1 wheel from these guys http://trigger-wheels.com/store/contents/en-uk/d37.html
but it isn't particularly locost.

The engine did originally have a distributer, but now using MS with throttle bodies, and yes the wheel is symetrical.
I saw the choices of Rover #1, #2 & #3, but not knowing what they refer to, I was reluctant to use any of them.
From your comment, are you suggesting this will not work as it is?

Yes.
As ever try with fuel and sparks disconnected and see if it is doing the right thing first. Then you can connect up a timing light and see if the
sparks are at about the right time.

I can not see how 36-1-1 is set in TunerStudio. Is this the 'second trigger active' used in 'dual wheel' (although I do not
have duel wheels)
Any idea?

Are you running the MSExtra code?
If so then:
Basic setup
Tach input/ignition settings
Spark mode (dizzy, EDIS, wheel) --> Rover#1

OK, I was looking for 36-1-1 somewhere.
Is there a desciption of the different choices. i.e. how would I know what this setting was compared with the other choices, if you did not tell
me?

The most reliable route is to check the code itself (the relevant source code is all available).

good old rover had all sorts of odd trigger setups
just so you can decode what thay mean 36-1 is 36 teeth minus 1 so has 35 with one missing to alow sync so ecu knows where crank is at
60-2 would have 58teeth with a gap of 2 teeth
rover went mad and put gap tooth gap tooth gap so you had 36-1-1 etc. ms'ers tried to make it easy and just gave us rover#x
