Thread on Westfield Forum...

There's a thread on the Westfield forum (by ViruTypeR) that's regarding an mbe ecu that i tested and repaired, but i'm not a member on there so i can't reply. If there's someone on here that can copy/paste this it would be great -

----------------------
If your reading throttle site 4 (or higher) at idle it will never run properly and will be very very rich.

Looking at your chipfile throttle index, idle should be 0v68 for site 0 and go to 4v86 for full throttle site 15, check it with easimap or a volt meter. There are 3 wires to the throttle pot, one should be 0v/ground, one should be 5v and the other is the throttle position voltage, check them at the pot. If you have 0v and 5v but it still won't adjust to get a sweep between 0v68 and 4v8, change the pot as mentioned in some other posts. It absolutely MUST be on site 0 at idle, otherwise all your warm up fueling and timing will also be wrong (switches compensation maps at site 1 , 0v7).

Don't use the tvr specific software for anything on the 956 ecu, it's designed for the tvr specific ecu and many of the parameters it reads from your ecu will be incorrect.

It's not advisable to run low impedance injectors on the 956 ecu, they're not designed for them. I know some people do use them and don't have issues...but i wouldn't.

The ecu is 100% perfect, but as with any ecu, if it's being fed the wrong information the engine won't run properly or at all!.

Done.

I always use 0.37v for idle on MBE's?

It all depends on what it was programmed/set up to in the first place. Whether it's 0v2 or 1v5 at idle is fine as long as the throttle index and tps settings/defaults are set to suit. It's only becomes an issue if the throttle pot is subsequently set wrong or faulty.

Where it normally goes wrong is there's a running problem and then everything gets tinkered with before the real issue is found, and then it still won't run properly when that's fixed, because other things have been messed around with!.

Thanks for posting it over there...

Looks like it starts and runs now the idle is set to 0 as it should be!

If you (or someone else) could please just post this over on that forum, it'll be done and dusted.....

---------------------------

Only do the fine adjustments once the engine is up to normal running temperature, otherwise the warm up enrichment and extra ignition timing will be effecting the idle speed.

Once the engine is up to temperature, adjust the pot to site 0, and set the idle. Once the idle is set you may have to adjust the pot slightly again so it is 'just' on site 0 (ie, adjust it so it's showing site 0.1 or higher and then turn it back slowly so it just goes to site 0). Don't set the pot so it's a long way under site 0 (easimap will not display -1 etc) or you will not get the full sweep up to 15 at full throttle(and it will be lean). You might have to do both adjustments a couple of times to get it right.

Everything should be right them, leave it alone!

That should be that then, thanks again
