Car running issue (runs fine when a HT or injector unconnected)
I have a Zetec with Megsquirt V3 on throttle bodies.
The car has been unused for about 4 years after a crash, and now I am trying to get the car back going. The car starts and runs, but I had to tighten
the throttle cable a tiny so it runs 1200rpm at idle so it would runs on its own. But its super rich (black smoke). I can remove an injector wire (any
for the 4) and it runs almost the same, and I can also remove unsurprisingly any single HT lead and it similarly doesn't change much either!
I have checked wiring to ECU, earths and everything else I can think of to check, any idea's? I do have a cable coming so I can hook up the
laptop, but its being slow getting to me....So, Any pointers?

check for spiders webs, (or even a bird's nest! ) in the air filter ;-)

Could be sticking injectors , faulty fuel pressure regulator maybe faulty temperature sensor, few things to be going on with.

Is it running speed density (map sensor fueling) or alpha n(tps based fueling)?
If it's sd, the vac hose to the sensor (usually part of the ms ecu) is probably perished/disconnected, and so giving a wot signal to megasquirt
which will be super rich at idle throttle openings.
The same can happen with alpha n if there is a tps fault, but is less likely and it should default to closed throttle signal with the sensor
disconnected.
