Integrated Megajolt - EDIS
Just found a UK supplier of an integrated Megajolt. It seems to me that this is the obvious 'next step'. He takes the Edis, strips it out of
it's case and hard wires it to the MJLJ board and mounts it all in an extruded ally case. The connectors are nice twist fit cannon style
fittings.
This may seem a bit 'non standard' in megajolt terms, but I see it as a step forward. Price for the built unit is 85 quid plus P&P.
Price for a fully terminated heat shrunk loom is 15 quid. So, 100 quid, plug it in and go. And you don't have to source your own EDIS or look at
it in all it's ugliness...

Looks good if you just want spark.
If you want fuel as well, then you're best looking at the v3 MSnS-E with extra VB921

I just got a quote from Bill Shurvinton for a standard Megajolt kit (need to provide your own edis etc.) including case and map sensor it's
£110.50 inc p&p
That version seems a bargain, where/who's making 'em ?

Yep that looks a good price.
 How the hell has he stripped the edis4 its in an injection moulded case covered in a layer of jelly like stuff and then has a cover over this ?

BIt of a new comer to all this electronic stuff. Is this all you would need to do away with a standard/missing electronic set-up? If not, what other

Right all.
I've placed my order and paid now - so here's the address.
Before we go any further, this is detailed as being made for an MGB, but that's only because the guy who builds them has an MGB and wanted to
improve it.
Anyway - it's a megajolt and an EDIS in the one box, that's all. Maybe best not to mention anything other than MGBs if ordering off him -
don't want to upset him and ruin the deal...

From looking at the website you still have the coil pack to place, but that's it. Assuming I understood it right?

Just looked at it , it is a custom made board not the original megajolt board and has no programmable outputs, shift lights or hard cut rev
limiter.
He says that he partially dismantles the Edis unit i assume he cuts the plastic away by the connector pins and then solders it to the Pcb using the
original pins.

I experimented with an Edis today. First i cut the plug mounting off and it leaves a neat module with the pins for connecting to which i think could
be incorporated into the megajolt box quite easily .
I then drilled out the cover fixings and found the insides to be totally unsuitable for further dismantling.It is covered in jelly that I assume
protects from damp and disperses heat , there are also what looks like two output transistors with no case , ie surface mounted with the connecting
wires sealed only by the jelly
and no isulation on them at all.
What would the demand for basic megajolts with no programmable outputs or shift lights etc be ? I could build a budget version that only does ignition
control and software rev limiter but havent persued the option previously as i assumed most would want all the options.

Personally, I'm aiming for a fairly basic spec for the whole car, but suited to my own peculiar set of requirements. That's why I can live
without shift lights etc.

Yep!!! Edis is still required separately.
Sounds cheap though at £100 inc wiring loom. And those connectors look nice.

I'm going to split hairs now, but it's an important point to make.
It does not require an external EDIS unit as this is built into the box. It does however require a coil pack. Perhaps this is where the
confusion is coming in as I have sometimes seen Ford coil packs advertised as EDIS units.

The unit has arrived now.
Couple of points.
It's very well made - professional in every respect.
The wiring loom is superb - fully terminated except the permanent live to the coil, the switched live to the ECU and the tacho. All heat shrunk and
with proper printed labels and test label on each.
The connectors are very very secure.
It does have a shift light and rev limiter if you want it.
Comes with a CD with everything you need to install it including all software and an installation guide complete with pics if you require them.
All in all - a great buy for £100. Including the superb wiring loom.

I just ordered one...for my dads MGB! The LCB and K&N's and richer needles have improved things, but it's still running on the
orginal distributor and he's been talking about getting a mapped system for it. I was going to build him a megajolt, but for £100 including the
EDIS module, the loom and far superior connectors the the standard Molex it's hardly worth it.
