zetec thermostat sensors for megasquirt
I am trying to wire up a megasquirt to my 2.0 silvertop zetec.
The thermostat housing has two sensors mounted on it , one on top and one underneath, which one of these should I connect to the megasquirt, and can
the other one be used to control the radiator fan?.

Top one is for the ECU. The one on the bottom corner is for the temperature gauge and won't work the fan. You need a third temp sensor
effectively a temperature operated switch usualy mounted in the rad, top hose or thermostat housing to switch the fan relay.

thanks for that,
I will use the top one.
guess I am going to have to tru easytherm as I am reluctant to mess with board.
Any other input re getting the squirt to work on my installation would be appreciated. I am using the stock zetec plennum.
I have not tried to do any of the setup for the megasquirt yet,Thought I would do all the connecting of sensors and then attempt the setup.looks like
it might take some time and fiddling

What rad are you using?
The POLO rad has a mounting for a thermostat for the fan

Unfortuneatly thats no use for a Msquirt as it'll still be cold when the engines hot (before the thermostat opens).
As Mark said it needs a true engine (before the thermostat) reading.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

CHEERS
I am afraid I dont know what the radiator is from, I cant see any plugs to take a fan switch.
I will have to go down to corner shop and see if I can get a switch for the fan that I can tap into the plumming.
does any body know what the grey box on the side of the coil pack is, it is about the size of a match box and has 20 UF marked on it (capacitor) what
is it for?
Going to use top sensor & easy therm to recalbrate squirt
I have readings like
214 k/ohm at freezer 0
19,7 k/ ohm at body temp 37 C
2,17 k/ohm at boiling water 98 c
do these values seem right

I was meaning for the fan control BTW a new rad from Sweedish, German is about £60. The top sensor in the thermostat housing IIRC is the correct side
of the thermostat so is at engine/head temp.
