Throttle bodies
Ok, opinions please.
For those who already enjoy the simplicity of fuel injection on the standard engine is there a significant advantage of fitting throttle bodies?
Are bike throttle bodies as good or as suitable as those specifically designed for cars?
Is the injection ecu set up difficult to achieve for the home mechanic?
If i look a taking this route it will be on a V6. Does this add to the complications?
Pleae share the benifit of your expierence and be honest .
Look forward to the input.

TBs are in fact very simple, a tube with a butterfly and an injector. The benefit is that the exact amount of fuel goes in every time, no waiting for
air to suck it out of a tube! Bike units are just fine, just a bit more work to get them mounted as the spacing of the throttle spindle and fuel rail
more than likely wont be the same for your engine, but not rocket science to adapt.
6 cyl engines no more tricky than a 4, just two more mouths to feed.
If you get an aftermarket ecu you may get a copy of the map for the more common engines from the maker or someone else with the same setup, but if
you can get the most from the engine and spend £200 on a rolling road session.
Well worth getting to know how they work and carbs are history.

Any point moving from a stock injection system [using a single plenum perhaps ?] to using individual throttle bodies ?
Yes there is, much better throttle response, you can tune the length of the inlet runner to better match what you want from the engine (this can be
done with a single tb but it's much easier diy with individual tb's) and you also get far less intrusion to the air flow from adjacent
cylinders.
If you plan using more agressive cam profiles then you may need to isolate each runner from the next or you get some unpleasant effects.
It's also easier diy, usually, to fit multiple injectors per cylinder with tb's rather than one plenum.
All depends what you want from the engine ?
If you have a V6 you might find the Triumph speed tripple throttle bodies cheap to get hold off, this is a 3 cyl engine, very nice, later ones made
130 or so bhp so 260 for a V6 would be easy, probably 350bhp within reach with possibly different injectors.
If you want to know more, search Google patents, loads of info there.
