Foam Air Filters Again
Hi Guys
I didn't want to hijack the other post but my question is pretty similar. I have Pipercrosssocks but need to cut them down as I'm short of
space. Do the socks breath through the end or the circumference?
Thanks in advance

As far as I understand... the whole surface is porous and this is used for breathing. Reducing the surface area or the filter by cutting them down
will almost certainly be detrimental to air flow and thus power.
Socks aren't the greatest filtration method as they don't contain a very large volume of still air and the unstructured versions get
sucked into the inlet further reducing airflow.

Socks
I use four socks on my Fireblade, all cut down to fit under bonnet. No probs with collapsing or being sucked in to the carbs, and performance not
affected.

Thanks Guys
I'll try them - I can get about 40mm between the end of the trupet and the internal face of the sock.
I may try and build a proper air box but don't have the time right now :-(
