Some MGB and mk 2 Escorts had them , solonoid operated valve that allowed air into the inlet manifold when the ignition was switched off. Think what diesling means in what we would call running on.

On most MG and Fords it was tee connected into the brake servo vac hose. --- Simple solenoid valve supplied from an ignition switched +ve.

Suplying power via the ignition switch to it shut the valve, when the ignition was switched off it let a great gulp of air in to the inlet manifold weaken the mixture and stopping the engine running on.

On some Vauxhall/Bedford and Japanese engines it was part of the carb and shut off fuel to the idle jet(s)
