Yamaha YZF R1 Injector Sizing
got a set of ITBs from a 2004 R1, getting my intake manifold together for my zetec right now,
need to know the injector sizing for megasquirt.
anyone have some numbers, or know where I can get them??

Its all very easy, the r1 injectors are suited for an engine delivering around 170bhp, if your Zetec is going to produce the same you are fine.
Given that with megasquirt you can hold the duration longer if required and ramp the fuel pressure also you should be able to run 200bph without any
issues.

thats all well and good, but megatune needs the injector sizing to figure out the pulse width to deliver the right amount of fuel

Its been suggested to me that the 2002 R1 injectors are 200cc/min @2.7bar
No idea where that came from or if its correct but thats what somebody was using sucessfully on their Emerald system.
Hope that helps or gives you a ball park figure.

thats helpfull for a ballpark, but the 2002-03 r1 had different injectors than the 2004-06
it is a different style of injector, but maybe the sizing is similar. if no one knows for sure, I'll assume that it is 200cc and adjust the maps
to correct any lean/rich condition

VB ... let me give you some sound advice, and don't assume anything. 'Assume' makes an 'ass of u and me' or your engine
for that matter.
Here's what you do. Take out the injectors, take them to the shop and have them cleaned and flow tested. That way you gave them a good service
too.
That way you KNOW the size and not ASSUMED it. Take the extra time to do the above, it will give you peace of mind and avoid frustration at a later
stage.

surely you can wire one injector in a bucket and measure the amount of fuel collected in a given time?

Some versions of MS firmware have the facility to test injectors so you can measure the flow yourself.
