Throttle cable linkage

I've just got my throttle body mounted. I bought a throttle cable today at P'boro car show and it's all connected at the pedal end but I'm wondering about the throttle end. Here's the original volvo setup. Is there a way I can simplify it? Seems a bit bulky.

Anyway, red arrows show direction of movement. Green is one option to where the cable could be mounted. Yellow - at the end of my cable is nothing, just cable. What are those things called that I've tried to draw and how are they fixed to the end of cable? Nipples?

Any way I can get rid of the huge wheely part? It's massive

I would have thought that you could make up a bracket to hold the cable, and attach it to the lever on the throttle body, you would probably need to lengthen the lever though. Just my two pennyworth. Cheers Ray

just be weary if there is any sort of cam arrangement.. in that it pulls it open slowly at first and then progressively faster, it might make the car quite jumpy if the throttle is snapping open with the slightest press on the pedal.

You'd also have to put a return spring on whatever new setup you decided to make.

Thanks for the info. I still don't know how to 'end' cables: where to get end adapters/are they soldered on? etc

Basically how do I attach bare cable to the throttle body lever?

There are literaly dozens of differing nipples that "could" be used. Ford, on the V6 12V and 24V, have a similar set up to your throttle body, in as far as it is a snap on fitting that goes onto the ball, but they are ready made onto there cables, (plastic). There are various solder on types, as well as ones that have a screw going through the centre, that clamps the cable in place. I would say your best bet is to peruse a few cable sites, (Google), and pick which you think would work best, and make up your levers to suite. HTH Ray

Cool. I'm still working out how I'm going to do the linkage at the moment so I don't know yet about the length/type of nipple I need
