IM SO HAPPY !!!!!!
Today i was determined to find out why my car was being such a bugger and figure out why it was idling at such high rev's. i balanced the
Throttle Bodies first of all to make sure that they were all sucking the same, the third TB's was hardly sucking compared to the others, so got
that sorted.
then i went through all checks in megasquirt, basic constants page, warm up enrichments, ve table, spark table, AFR table, checked my lambda sensor,
everything!
started up my engine and low and behold it started ticking over at 1300rpm!
Now the magic begins...
Then i took the air filter and back plate to the TB's off and just let it run to warm up! Whilst standing there, Cup of tea in hand (this was
the best part of my day at the moment-a good cup of tea) i wondered into a distant stare but i was staring directly at the choke bar that connects all
the Throttle Bodies together! THEN IT HIT ME! i had taken the automatic choke adjuster off to fit the back plate to the throttle bodies (if you know
R1 Tb's the auto choke is controlled by a small wax switch that expands as warm water passes past it, closing the choke when the engine gets up
to temperature). with this part missing the choke rail sits WIDE OPEN, hense letting loads of air in, hense my high MAP value and rpm.
SUCCESS
I'd found the problem that had been bugging me for WEEKS! Such an obvious little thing, i couldn't believe i'd missed it, i
haven't had this big a smile on my face in months! i closed the choke and the rev's dropped down to 800rpm and as i opened slightly i
could control the rev's to what ever i wanted!
now the problem i have is that the back plate doesn't fit with the auto choke part on and you have to plumb the auto-choke into the coolant
system to enable it to work. so im going to have to come up with a way to either
a) adjust the choke manually or b) alter the back plate so that it doesn't foul the auto-choke part.
IM SO HAPPY!

If you've got coolant correction in your ecu you should be able to "tune" the need for a choke out

Cut mine off and throw away, megasquirt enrichments work fine when tuned.

No need for the choke, i dont even have a fast idle on my car.As said you can set the cold start enrichments to take care of it, I started mine today
for the first time in a month and it started and ticked over straight away .You just need to work out how much enrichment to give it at lower
temperatures.

i dont even have that, i have a button i press for cold start, hold it for 5 seconds after starting the car then it runs fine, and no messing with
warm up enrichments.
