Could my DIY mapping be causing this?
Hi folks, although ime more than hapy with the performance of my T16 engine, there is one problem that i carnt seem to get rid of. The clutch slips in
3rd gear under boost, the clutch itself is a five paddle CERAMETALLIC jobby with uprated cover, the flywheel was resurfaced when fitted and gearbox
and crank seals where replaced. Ime running on Megasquirt and have mapped it myself, was just wondering if my diy mapping could be some of the
problems? what do you think pls??

Can't see how your map could give you clutch slip, other than the car is producing so much torque it's defeating the clutch.

nope, not unless you are running mental amounts of torque and even then thats not a problem it's simply showing up the clutch isn't up to
the job.
have you checked the simple things like clutch cable adjusted correctly etc?
built a car, built a home, had a family. lost the family, lost the home, still got the car.

Where did you get the clutch?
If its an ebay special they are notoriously crap, hence why I fitted an AP one. Yes double the price, but even with an organic plate and 245lbft it
doesnt slip.

PS. I only say that as you were obviously considering it by posting in this (BEC)section.

Well I'd be wanting to have a chat with them then cos it sure ain't the mapping (unless your new map has unleashed so many ponies the
current clutch can't restrain them all!

Which COULD still be the case if you get a massive boost spike by having the boostcontrolling solenoid mapped wrong. Key to finding out is doing a 3rd
(or something) gear full throttle run and logging the MAP to see if it shows significant overshoot when coming on boost.

Paddle Clutch
Its probably the clutch, I use a 4 paddle on mine and can do a on the rev limit start with a LCD & Locker and it will not slip a bit all the way
through the box, and thats around 400ftlb of torque.
If you want to get it relined with the proper material I can give you an address in Wales of a place I use as I get my same one relined evry 3500 to
5000 miles
