ST170 megasquirt maps

Hi Guys,

Pretty new to this forum so I'll start off by saying Hello,,

Hello..

I have just installed an ST170 engine in my kit and running dunnel throttle bodies and megasquirt, The engien will start and run but is extremely rich, so much that on crank it will hydraulic, I've only fired it up a couple of times and dont wish to start it again untill I get a closer map that wont run so rich, from there I can tweek it,

So if anyone has an ST170 map on there computer I'd be very glad if I could use it, Or a 2.0 blacktop map would get me started.

Many thanks in advance

Dave

Hi Dave, welcome to the nuthouse, actually you've found the right place.. first off where abouts are you?

I have a ST170 motor in my car and GSXR TB's with MS.... it was a bit of a bugger to get it running and its still not perfect but I can live with it, (its a bit rough)

Anyway, I'll try and find the map (don't have the laptop anymore) and see if I can send it to you...

First though which MS do you have? and, are you running the VVT? and how?

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply,

I have ms2 v3 and running the VVT via a program output set at specific revs, controled through a relay switching the solonoid, so basically an on and off switch set at say 3k,

I live in hertfordshire, I have a mate thats also running the ST170 with some sucsess on MS2 but we cant connect to his unit to extract the map,

My plan is to junk the VVT after IVA, but now worry I wont get the emmissions low enough to even pass IVA,

Would be great if you find the maps, even if its just somewhere I can start from,

thanks

Dave

Ok, mine should work on yours... if I can get it off the ms

I use the MS to switch a relay at 3K which switches the solenoid and does the business.
Why do you want to junk the VVT? It gives a massive boost when it comes in..

This was taken off the rollers using carbs that were NOT jetted for this application, that's why you see a huge drop off up top.
However, the power increase there at 3K makes the car very lively indeed

Bear with me....

Steve

Thanks ,

When I say junk the VVT, I mean remove the solonoild and replace the cams, I've had quotes of around the 1k mark for all that is needed. but have heard stories about them needing to be reshimmied,
Power increases are good though with most claiming around the 210bhp mark.

If I can get mine running ok, I shall decide then, the car only wieghs 480kg so might be mad to want more power.

I've got my fingers crossed you can get it off the MS, lol

Many thanks mate

ST170 with ITB's and VVT

Coozer, maybe you can help me?
I have installed an St170 with GSX-R 750 ITB's and MS3V3/MSX.
I am keen to get hold of a map that will get it running with the VVT, can you help?
I'm on the Hants/Berks/Surrey border, are you close?
Cheers
Mike

Hi, not done a ST, but have done a honda type R with VVT and VTEC.

I would not remove the VVT if i was you, its nice to have an engine that idles at 700RPM but revs to 8000RPM! If you put it back to a conventional system with race cams you may loose that nice idle. The Honda made 220BHP on jenveys, totally stock motor, we plan to make a better exhaust system for it, this should push the power to 250BHP.
I would expect a stock st170 to do the same with good induction, exhaust and mapping.

£1k will just about by you a proper set of individual jenvey tapered throttle bodies, far better than the parallel ones.

Cheers Dale.
