Anyone using old type Emerald M3D??
Hi,
is anyone running the old-type (black body with round plug) Emerald M3D?? I'm really struggling to find a wiring diagram that matches mine and
want to know it will run my pinto on GSXR TB's before I get too involved...
any and all help greatly appreciated,
Oliver

I've got a couple of different diagrams from emerald but none that seem to directly correspond with my ecu and don't want to badger them
just yet as may need more info at a later point, but that may be the only option!!

I think this ecu was previously on a 4age, but I'd like to use it on my pinto with GSXR tb's so that may help me answer a few questions if
possible...
do you run a ignition module/amplifier on yours or wasted spark?
do you use a magnetic crank trigger?
do you have a wiring diagram??
thanks a lot,
Oliver

Hi thanks, yes that partly helps,
I have a list of pinouts that seems to tally with power/injectors/tacho etc, but I'm mostly confused about the green for the coils (my ecu has 2
larger green wires coming out, pins 'D' an 'R' iirc, and only 'D' is listed as a coil feed),
and also which wires I need for my trigger sensor, I don't really want to use the distributor, hoping to use the 36:1 trigger wheel I've
fitted, but sounds like yours might be wired a bit differently?
thanks again

Just a comment .. A Pinto dizzy from an injection car is good as a trigger reference as there's no advance spring / weights .. Fixed rotation so
you can set the hall effect in the dizzy to 60 degrees BTDC. Emerald manual shows this setup nicely. And, you still use the dizzy for the sparks (or
go wasted spark if you want).
Keeps things simple and works well ...
Oh, and don't worry about badgering Dave or Karl (Paton) at Emerald, they are always happy to help ...
Cheers !!
