Fuel breather
After my fuel filler cap leaked and ruined the vinyl at the back of the car I've bought an aero style filler cap and funnel. Unfortunately
this doesn't have an outlet for a breather like the old filler cap did, so I will need to make one.
The simplest/cheapest way looks like using something like this:
RED ALLOY MOTOCROSS MOTOX BIKE FUEL CAP PETROL TANK BREATHER PIPE HOSE CRF KTM | eBay
12v Motor
and just T-ing it into the fuel return line near the tank. Would that work well or would I be better off making a hole in the funnel behind the filler
cap and somehow (not sure how exactly) attaching it there?
Or maybe (pikey approach) just a little pin-prick hole in the top of the funnel behind the filler...?

You need a vent on the tank itself, you could use an aviation fuel tank connector, easy to fit, and if it's ok for aircraft I'm not
going to argue Link

Drilling the tank is going to be a huge hassle, I think fitting something to the filler connection would be just as effective. That does look like a
nice simple way of doing it though.

I made mine by drilling into the main feed pipe from the filler cap. I then put a Nutsert into it then got a length of brake pipe, wound it into a
coil and glued it with Araldite into the Nutsert. Did it for me and passed SVA!

You can remove the rubber O-ring from the cap, which will allow air in and out, but it obviously isn't a valve. Another option is to drill a
small hole through the cap. Both of these ideas are reasonably known, but a proper breather valve is the best option.

You could use one of these in the filler hose up near the cap :

Then connect it to a bit of fuel pipe routed like DavieP has drawn here: http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=165710
But obviously connected to the filler hose takeoff then going straight down instead of straight from the tank as it's shown.
Don't put the MX vent in the return it'll prob leak, ones that I've had before on bikes seemed to leak if you dropped the bike. They
didn't last long though, I kept booting them into the woods after they got caught in my clothes etc, many times I'd get home and then
notice the bloody thing was gone hahahaha

I have taken a different approach: I've removed one of the bolts securing the fuel pump into the tank, and replaced it with an allen head bolt
which I've drilled the centre out of. Hose attached to bolt with jubilee clip... job done? It sounds a bit iffy but the hose seems pretty secure
on the bolt head.

Clever fix. Nice idea.
