EFI and turbo conversion, one at a time, or both at once?
Hi all,
I'm getting well on with my EFI conversion on my Mercedes.
But I've been pondering over the last week, whether to get on with doing the turbo conversion at the same time.
Or get the EFI working first, before I get the turbo on.
What would you guys do?
I can't decide whether I'm just giving myself more headaches by doing both jobs together.
Cheers Frank.

I'm approaching the e type efi conversion a step at a time:
1. New tuned head, will run with the same inlet / ignition setup as before to check cam timing etc.
2. Convert from Megajolt to Megasquirt ignition, to check crank sensing etc. is all OK, check power feeds, sensors etc.
3. Fit the efi, get it running as well as I can.
4. off to Bailey Performance for proper mapping.

To be honest, I'm 70/30 about which way to go, I'm more inclined to keep going a step at a time. But there's a few bits and pieces
that I will have to make for the EFI conversion, then have to alter/remake when I fit the turbo, and that's what is swaying me towards doing
both together.

Yep, understand, my view is I'd rather know which step introduced a problem. I'm sure there will be some, and chasing false leads could
take longer and be more frustrating than the extra time taken to go one step at a time....

I'm happy doing things in stages. Originally my kitten was built with the na cosworth on carbs and ignition only ecu, then different ecu's
and then, nitrous, changed over to tb's/fuel injection, cams, manifolds and now a supercharger. It's a progression and for me part of the
fun

I converted to injection, just made the plenum with boosting the engine in mind, single 2" stub with K&N planted on the end, once it was all
hunky dory added the turbo 6 months later.

I would just do it all in one hit then you only have to pay out once to get it mapped.
Anything With Tits or Wheels Will cost you MONEY!!

If you were going to just getting running on EFI, be happy ish then turbo it, a two stage could at least prove something on the way. I wouldn't
pay out twice on the rolling road, tho.
