New firmware release for Megajolt

If you've missed it - there's a new firmware and configurator release out for Megajolt (v 3.2.1)

This gives the option to choose either of 2 maps, various bug fixes, and a far better system for coping with interference on the signal lines.

I loaded it up on my system yesterday, and the engine does sound a bit more 'sharp'. It certainly does idle better now, so much so that I've had to turn back the idle screw a bit! It seems that I'm not the only one to report better idling.

I haven't yet tried the dual maps - need to get a switch first - but I'll probably set up the second one for standard unleaded, in case I can't get super unleaded (currently my car doesn't like standard unleaded at all).

HTH,
David

BTW: Mine's a V3.0 board - I don't know whether this works on V2.0 boards (but I believe that it does).

You could probs set the 2nd map up as a security device and hide the switch - ie set the rev limit to 1000rpm (or maybe lower so it doesnt start).

Im running a Matt kimmins MJLJ with built in Edis. matt sent me an email recently to say he successfully upgraded the new firmware onto one of his units as well. They are based on a V3 board.

I've been trying to get this into the box but the loader freezes anywhere between 17% and 78%, do you think it's just a case of keep thying as i'm on my 6th attempt?

ATB Dan.

Dan,

There is a known design bug with the V3.0 board - the tantalum capacitors around the MAX232 chip (C3, C4, C5, C6) are shown as 0.1uF, but should be 1.0uF. This doesn't affect the communication between the config software and the unit, but the firmware download runs at a higher speed, and can sometimes get 'confused'.

Brent Picasso now supplies a different low-power MAX232-variant that works with the 0.1uF caps. Older-style chips just need 1.0uF caps soldered across the old ones.

HTH,
David

I'll keep trying as I didn't make the board.

Cheers Dan.

I fitted a different 232 chip to most of the ones I built for the reason stated, Irealised that the max 232 should have 1uf caps although it does work with .1uf usually.I now use HIN 232ACP chips which are designed to work with 0.1uf caps.
Dan,it may be worth checking to see if yours has one in it it is the chip nearest the serial connector.
if you have no luck I can program a processor and post it to you, just let me have the original back in return.I need to install the new firmware on mine as i have just got the new engine running and it would be handy to have the extra features particularly the dual mapping .
