Megasquirt not sparking

Hey folks, the ongoing saga of getting my megasquirt working continues.

The car conked out the other week and after various attempts that the roadsdie to get it going I had to be recovered home.

After inspecting it the following day I realised it wasn't sparking on Cylinders 2+3. So I swapped the coil pack with a known working one and tried mine on their car, their car worked my problem continued.

In the process of testing further it became apparent that it would spark once on cylinders 2 and 3 from cold and then not spark again until cold. I checked continuity on the wire from the DB37 to the coil pack and it was ok so I suspected the coil drivers in the Megasquirt and sent it back.

The unit was tested and no fault found so he replaced them anyway. the unit came back and its no different. I thought maybe something was breaking down under load and he'd only tried it on the stimulator.

I've sent it back again and he's had it running on a proper rig overnight and its been fine.

To test the wireing on the car i've just been out and put a wire up the relevent pins in the DB37 and when arc'd on the -ve of the battery the coil pack fires.

I've been told all the *.msq coding is correct and I would assume the CPS is working ok as it tells 1&4 when to fire ok.

Anybody any ideas?

Interference maybe ?

Are the wires to the coils crossed or just laid out in the loom.

Have you got any shielded wires, if so they should only have the shield grounded at one end.

are all the wires bunched together, you could try seperating them and see if that improves things.

How aboy also checking the battery voltage, is this nice and stable at 13.8 or does it peak due to a bad regulator, maybe hitting 17v. or is it running a low voltage.

Just a few thoughts, it must be driving you nucking futs

yup sure is!

It was all working fine for about a month while I sussed out tuning it up... finally got all the principles sorted and understand how to tune it on the Alpha_N and then it conks like this!

If he's saying the megasuirt unit runs fine for him and today i've proved its ok between the DB37 and the spark plugs.

So it must either be the Megasquirt itself or the signals its recieveing from our setup, but nothing should have changed there and all the joints were good soldered and shrinkwrapped.

Just wondering how I could replicate the CPS signal direct to the Megasquirt to rule that out if he sends me it back saying its ok.

although i'm not the first person on here to have uncureable problems, some have resorted back to using the EDIS setup.

What appeared to be wrong with the coil pack connector that Wd40 might have cured?

This setup and coil pack etc were working on the car and wern't removed or changed when it stopped working.

Was it corroded, a loose fit, damp?

Also would I be right in thinking that if the Left hand LED on the side of the Megasquirt isisn't flashing then that side of the coil pack won't be sparking?

I can't seem to find an idiots guide as to what these LEDS are telling you.
