Wideband sensor gauge..... gimmick?

Innovate LC-1 Wide Band sensor will be wired in tonight to MS.

I have seen air/fuel ratio gauges to use with wideband sensors.

Are these a gimmick for the dashboard?
Anyone have one?

On fully mapped and working system it would be a bit of a gimmick, but whilst mapping on the road it's nice to keep an eye on things without having to look at a laptop balanced on the passengers seat.

I left my homemade one in for a while after i'd got the tuning 'finished', mainly as an aid to teach myself how to drive the car a bit more fuel efficiently. It was quite surprising sometimes how rich the engine was running when I thought it'd be leaner. I did have a switch on it to turn it off though, it's just a flashing distraction most of the time.

I've got the Weber system and full display, essential in my view. Yes, I have a datalogger (DL1) and an input into that, but a quick squint at the LEDs on the dash told me what I need to know when I need to know it. Mapped the fuel system (GSXR750) on the track by this method, with no gain achieved later (and very little adjustment needed) on a rolling road. It's now removed, but goes back if there's an engine problem.
Gaffer taping a laptop to the passenger seat didn't work for me, just far too much distraction from getting around the track.

A dial is a good idea. Whether you need it permanent attached to your car is a different matter. If it was me I'd put it in a pod and temporarily attach it to the dash when I was doing some tuning but then take it off afterwards...

I have the innovate gauge too.
Owning a bec means that ram air effects are not taken into account while tuning on a rolling roads.
I have twin NACA ducts on the MotaLeira so I should expect some sort of effect even if it is only at top end.
I have a power commander with lcd display so that I can re-map the fuel injection on the fly.
I figure that a rolling road session costs about £200 and so does the Guage and sensor.
I plan on keeping an eye on my engine so this is probably the cheapest option in the long run.

Just reread this and it is a lot of I's
