Its also worth making sure that you dont have any software running on your PC that is using com port 1.
Serial cable needs pins 2 3 5 and 9 connected straight through. The original megajolt tuner software can be difficult to set up using Java , but the later windows based version should work easily.
For the soldering I use .5 mm solder and a small tip on the soldering iron , it is then easy to get a good joint without putting in to much heat, although the ground plane joints can be harder to solder for the reasons mentioned.

which wingows software are you refering too????

Am i right in thinking that i should still be able to talk to the MJ without java installed using hyperterminal and such.

Also is the offer from Ray still open to me senging you the unit to get sorted???
I'm eager to get started on the install of it and get tuning, and get rid of the old dizzy.

Doed anyone know of a company that makes a blanking plug for the dizzy hole, or is it a case of getting one turned myself.

Cheers all.

The windows based version is megajolt lite jr tuner 02.2.1260 .You will find it on the megajolt website posted by 4600.Get the latest version the earlier ones didnt work correctly.
You should be able to get some communication with the megajolt from hyperterminal, have you checked the cable by linking pins 2 and 5 if it is working you should mirror on the screen anything you type into hyperterminal.
Your engine is a pinto and the oil pump is driven from the dizzy on these ,to remove it you would need to fit a shortened one to provide the pump drive.

That'll be pins 2 and 3 linked, 5-5 straight through.

It should respond to a capital S and C apparently..... (without the 2-3 linking) in hyperterminal.
