I think the grass track boys use this method of fuelling as they are not allowed twin carbs.

To be honest they look really rough, assuming you mean those aimed at the grass track boys....
I recon with a few steam pipe elbows, and a flange (someone on here does them - Shorttrack??) you could make better yourself. No reason something like
a 38 DGAS wouldn't work well, they'll fuel a 140bhp V6.

that what i was thinking. not looking for huge power. just a good useable motor in a classic body. i've got some zzr1100 carbs for it as well.
but looking at photos not sure there would fit once i make manifold and mount them. anyone got rough idea how bike carbs stand off the head???

No reason for it not to work well.
Have a Google for Lynx crossover manifolds which have been used on Pintos with a single Webber DCOE type carbs for many years. Might give you some
inspiration.

I have a feeling I've seen a CVH inlet manifold adapted for a Zetec using a spacer between the manifold flange and head, might be worth
investigating.

Here's a build thread off 105speed of a Zetec budget build using a single downdraft.
