Is my fuel pump knackered?
I have a strange noise coming from my fuel pump when it is priming. It starts off sounding ok then makes a louder noise. When the engine is running
the fuel pump to me sounds quite loud.
The fuel pump is the normal bosch fuel injection part number 0580464070.
Please have a look at the video and see what you think. The other noise in the background is the exup servo. There is plenty of fuel in the tank and
the fuel filter before the pump is always full of fuel.

i dont think thats right...mine kinda clicks a wee bit, starts off fast and slows down...
yours sounds similar to what mines like when the tanks completely empty...have you tried taking the fuel pipe off the carbs and sticking it in a
bottle to see if your getting decent flow?

Sounds knackered but could be a blockage in the pipe from the tank. Mine made similar noise when something blocked the banjo bolt. I also had to open
up the existing holes and put 2 extra holes in the banjo bolt as they didn't let enough fuel flow.

Does sound a bit noisey, but could be solidly mounted? Pressure and delivery rate test might be in order. Noisy pump may be a sign of impending
failure?

Sounds a bit odd, does it sound like that when running constant? If so I reckon it's on the way out - what pressure is it delivering i.e. is it
enough?

The engine runs O.k. although I have had an intermittant problem when the engine will fail to idle after being run for a while. If it is left for a
short while it will then be O.K. I was just thinking it may be the fuel pump causing the intermittant problem if it is not pumping properly.
