Yeah, he's a good bloke, and well done to him.
- Have been watching his alzheimer's programs on iplayer. Not really read his books other than the knome trilogy as a kid, but a lot of respect
non the less.

...and if he was a corrupt political party donor or incompetent financial regulator, he would have got one DECADES ago.
Better late than never, I suppose. It may be relatively little comfort in the circumstances, but then what would? I'm sure his family must be
very proud.

If you read past the slapstick, he is probably the greatest writer/commentator on society and the human condition since Jonathan Swift.
Well deserved recognition and not before time.
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

They're worth reading now, the Discworld are perfectly ok for adults.
My personal favourites are the stories about the City Guards.
The first one of these is: Guards Guards!
The 2nd (Men at Arms) being even better but the intro for the main characters is in Guards Guards.
Enjoy!

Although they fantasy-based, they are VERY firmly based on real life experience!
They can also be extremely funny, in a warped and cynical way (which is why I find them funny).

Same here, Night Watch is probably my favourite. Compared to the others it's quite dark, really draws you in to the sense of helplessness and
inevitability Vimes has through it. Might have to dig it out now actually...

Absolutely my favourites too, though all the books are well worth a read.
