Bike carbs jet size?
I've not got most of the parts required to run my 1800 silvertop Zetec on motorbike carbs.
I'm using ZX9R carbs with a TPS and Megajolt, but after reading the post of recent with the attached document from Total Vaux about fitment,
they drilled out the jets on their R1 carbs to fit the C20XE 2l 16v engine. They used a 1.8mm drill bit for the Redtop, but suggest a 1.65mm drill
bit for 1.6 engines.
I understand mie's only an 1.8l 16v with about 115bhp and the Vaux lump produces 150bhp, but how do I fit with my carbs? Do I drill them out
sightly, or leave the jets as standard and control it all through Megajolt and a laptop?
Got history using carbs, this is all a bit of an adventure!
PS - my new Megajolt Light Jr. is rather diddy, was expecting something bigger!

Hi. What size are the jets at the moment?
Looking at the figures you have supplied, I would go for 1.7
Have you looked and asked the same question on the Megajolt forum?

My 1.6 pinto is on 1.55, if would recommend go low first and work up!
I have some 1.55 drill bits for sale as I had to buy 10!
Cheers

I'm running ZX6R carbs on a 2.0 Zetec. My jets are drilled to 1.6mm.
I've had a wideband lambda sensor on the car and the full throtlle mixture is fine.
Like RichardK said, start low and work up.
Ideally you need some way of testing the AFR to know whether you have got it right.
I previously had a 1.8 Blacktop also with 1.6mm main jets. I never checked the AFR, but it drove well.
Bear in mind that you will probably have to adjust the needle position as well to get the mixture right across the board. [assuming your carbs have
adjustable needles]
This was the only change I made in going from 1.8 to 2.0 Zetec

My zx9r carbs are running 155's on a 1.8 zetec and megajolt. But havent had it on an AFR or rolling road so not sure it is right. Its goes
like stink so cant be far off.
What model carbs did you get? My jets are from zx9r C1's so yours may be the same? My carbs are zx9r B which had 190 mains in standard.

I got ZX9R carbs off a '99 bike, including TPS. According to the speedo of the vehicle, the bike had covered less than 100 miles!
Dan, sent u2u re. your manifold. Pls get in touch ASAP, as keen to get cracking on my engine.
Cheers for all the advice, people!

Charlie take a bowl off one of the carbs and see what jets you have.
