Fuel Tank Sealer
What sealer can I use on an ally tank. I have an in tank pump that is bolted through the top of the tank. It has a rubber seal but in order to be sure
it is fully sealed what have people used to seal it?
thanks

If it is the rubber seal supplied with the sender you shouldn't need anything else. Don't over tighten the screws though.

If it is in good condition then it may be worth fitting if you are unable to get a new one. Don't use silicon , it will break up and cause
problems . Petropatch might be worth a try ?

Agreed definitely don't use silicon. When it breaks up and gets in the petrol, it swells up to about 10 times it's original size and
everything gets clogged up - it's a nightmare to get out again. Don't ask me how I know
"That thing you're thinking - it wont be that."

I'd be tempted to make a new one from cork gasket material..... It's what fuel tank sender gaskets were traditionally made from.
Also has the advantage that it's cheap and easy to work with.
On the other hand I used a thin smear of sikoflex (hopefully fuel will never get to it as it's on the top of the tank). Nowadays I'd be
tempted to used hydromar blue....

Hylomar is petrol proof and is what I would use.
