VB921 jumper configuration

Anyone able to shed some light on this as the MS manual, is as ever, rather vague.

What jumper connections are required in order to use 2 VB921/BIP373 for direct coil drive with MS1 extra?

IGBTOUT to IGN is required as shown in the digrams on the MS Extra site.

But what about JS10 to IGBTIN? Or does the 330ohm resistor from R26 and R29 replace the need for this connection and provide the ign pulses to fire the coils?

Cheers,
David

The DIY Autotune website is much clearer than the MS Extra manual IMO!

Do you have a v2.2 or a v3 pcb?
For the v3 look at http://www.msextra.com/manuals/MS_Extra_Ignition_Hardware_Manual.htm
and search for "Two Coils Direct Drive Output for a V3.0 PCB".
Don't look at the schematic, it is not for a coil driver. Look at the picture with the main board components. Below this picture is exactly written what you should do. Although you have to place the coil driver at the location of R38 instead of R36.
Hope this helps.

Thanks chaps. The DIY auto tune site is much clearer, but contradicts the input circuit described on the MS Extra site, by saying link TSEL to VROUT and not to VROUTINV...but still describes connecting the VR sensor the same way around as the MS Extra site.

Seems to be lots of contradicting info wherever you look.

My point was that nothing tells you if you still need the jumper between JS10 and IGBTIN.

Its a V3 board.

Cheers,
David

You don't need the jumper. The 330R resistor will connect IGTBIn to the correct output of the CPU.

As far as I can remember, VROUTINV is for MS1 and VROUT is for MS2. The different CPU triggers on the opposite edge (either rising or falling). If you post on the MS Extra forum someone will have the definitive answer.
