m.a.p sensor in megasquirt

Got my timing problem sorted by removing a complete edis set up from another car and soldering it in,now i have ign advance but watching my tables in ms why does my ign map and table only move up and down the top row of bins(100kpa).My tps is set and the load gauge moves with it,its set for alpha n in the constants and cofigurator.
Should my map sensor still need to be connected or blanked off when using alpha n,if i suck on the pipe the map reading lowers as you would expcet but surley the ign table should move with tps movement. so it seems to me its still reading map not tps ? Not sure just plucking at ideas

if you are running alpha N then you don't need map sensor connected, i just disconnected mine, you only need MAP sensor if you are running Speed Density

when you suck on the pipe your creating a vacuum and that is why the map sensor reading decreases

what are you running MS 1 or MS 2?

if your running MS1 you need to make sure that you change the scales of the y axis to scale your TPS ADC values

if you are running MS2 you need to calibrate your TPS in the tools tab and then it measures the TPS opening by a percentage.

i have set my tps up ie current and wot so should my ign map and timing table now alter when i press the throttle because they do as far as rpm but stay in the far or highest row of bins ?
running ms2 with t/b's

when you switch from SD to Alpha N, MS doesn't recalibrate the fuel and spark tables to the TPS scale.

if you are running MS-1,you need to take you minimum TPS ADC value and put that in the lowest box on the y axis of the fuel table & spark table and the maximum TPS ADC in the top box. Then equally space values between the minimum and maximum values

so if your minimum value is 30 and your maximum is 200 your y axis scale should be something like,

30,35,40,45,50,60,70,90,120,150,175,200

and the same for the spark

am i on the right lines to your problem?

ok i understand that but if i look at the ign table (engine off) the box thats highlighted(green)is the top box on the first row,should it not be the lowest box and increase when i press the throttle ? the same on the ign map pic its at the far end not the nearest. in using ms2

if the engine is off it shouldn't matter where the green highlighted box is as the MS isn't getting a signal from the engine and relevant sensors. if its doing it when the engine is running then you have a problem somewhere.

if you are using MS2, as i understand it, it uses a percentage of the voltage given from the TPS on the y axis. IIRC the fuel table is a 16x16 table so you have 100% in the top box and 1% in the bottom box,so i would have some thing like this in the y axis.

1,5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50,60,70,80,90,100

for the spark table i would have (remember spark table is a 12x12 table)

1,5,10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80,90,100

did you make sure that you clicked 'save' when you changed from SD to Alpha N in the configurator?

at idle the green highlighted box should be down in the botton left corner of the fuel and spark tables

ok,just been and done that,the ve table is in the bottom left and works as it should but the ign table and ign map are still in the top/far boxes and only move side to side on that row. i checked and my settings are saved.

well your half way there!

i don't understand why the spark table should be any different though, if you have set up the % y axis the same and the x axis revs the same then you should be getting the highlighted green box in the bottom left corner

have you tried recalibrating the TPS?

yep .tried that .making slow progress i guess,very slow,sva retest time is gettin short now .thanks for your help
